Ha Ling May 13, 2024 We had a terrific spring weather day on Ha Ling- nice temperatures, clouds, and sun. It was windy on top but not extreme—we enjoyed our lunch with fabulous views. We had the summit to ourselves. The parking lot is huge at Goat Creek Day Use and there were few people on the trail. At about 75 minutes into our day, we needed our spikes/poles to navigate the snow and ice. The handrails and cable ladders assisted with the steep grades. Some of the ladders were covered in snow and some had less as exposed to the sun. After the last set of covered snow ladders with the summit in view– there was less snow, and some hikers removed their spikes to climb to the peak. The hike is challenging and steep. There was abit of mud on the trail, icy sections and snow-covered trails higher up in the trees. On our descent, we were careful on the steep trails and spikes worked well. Thanks to Maureen, Dianne, and Pat for coming out. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album?
