Things have changed since I last hiked this trail four years ago but for the better. The trail has been rerouted and a new section has been built with beautiful new bridges over large scenic creeks. Upon our return we met several families here enjoying an afternoon stroll with their kids and friendly dogs. The trail is now official and maintained to the 5 km mark as it rises moderately on an old exploration road from the valley bottom to the expansive flower meadows below the ridge. Beyond, the trail rises strenuously to a large cliff band guarding the summit ridge. We climbed a 3-m high cliff and then followed wide ledges to the top of the cliff band. A long walk along the ridge, with views of flowers, meadows and pointy peaks, for which the Germans and the Chinese are willing to pay thousands of dollars, brought us to the summit, which we reached in 2 hours and 45 minutes. All of the participants reached the summit. The weather was fine although menacing clouds and cold wind greeted us at the summit.
