Write Up:
The trail was very busy and included well behaved dogs, small children, and even babies. We started up Lantern Creek through trees and meadows offering good views to the Lineham Peak above and the peaks of the Continental Divide across the valley. The trail had some very steep sections. To get to Picklejar Lakes we had to get across the Lineham Ridge. Four hikers went only this far and then returned back to the parking lot. Eight hikers descended to the other side and continued to the farthest of the four lakes. Here we had lunch and observed skiers (or borders) skiing down the slopes below Lineham Peak. The third lake was the largest and we returned along its rocky south shore where the easy trail was blocked by snowfields, making the circling of the lake more challenging. On return we checked out the low route to avoid climbimg over Lineham Ridge, but there was too much water in the creek to get to the better trail on the far side and the path on the near side was blocked by a couple of landslides, courtesy of the big flood of 2013.
