After two days of rain/hail storms this week, the Douglas Fir Trail route proved to be dry enough to hike with ease. The morning was sunny with a slight breeze. Restoration of the South bank of the Bow River continues (from the 2013 flood) and except for a short section on the slopes below Wildwood, the trails and boardwalks were in good shape. Thanks to Gord for his comments about the development of Point MacKay and the recent opening of St Patrick's Island. The group walked past historic locations such as the sandstone quarry, the Robin Hood Flour Mill and the Lawrey gardens. A few stopped for a drink at Angel's, post hike.
