Calgary Weekend Hikers - About UsAbout the Calgary Weekend Hikers ClubThe Calgary Weekend Hikers (CWH) was started in 1980 by Elaine Watson, Rosemarie Kramp and Elsie James, a group of friends that wanted to explore the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Our club members have a passion for hiking and a respect for the mountain environment. We are a volunteer group that appreciates everyone lending a hand and the wonderful friendships that evolve when sharing the trail together for a day. The club offers over 200 hikes each year. The trips are designed for all fitness levels which include leisurely city walks to robust mountain scrambles and many moderate hikes in between. We also occasionally offer weekend trips to mountain hostels or backcountry camping. The current club has over 350 active members with most over 30 years of age.
